  • Pheasant II...This male pheasant was strutting around the backyard of a friend's home and I was able to capture a few photos of him.
  • Sandhill Crane in Flight...Taken at the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge November of 2012 during the migration and festival held each year during the migrations of the Sandhill Cranes and Snow Geese.
  • Hawk Keeping An Eye On Me...I have been trying to capture a shot of this hawk for a while. For several days he has sat on the fence post near our barn and today as he flew away I was able to capture this shot of him...she is a Northern Harrier Hawk. A little patience pays off as my back was screaming sit down but I just knew if I could hold out long enough he would fly.
  • Raven Posing at the Grand Canyon...Every where you go at the Grand Canyon you see Ravens either flying around or scavenging for food. At one of the overlooks on the Hermit Trail this one posed for me, turning its head one way and then the other for me to take its photo.
  • Northern Harrier Hawk with its Kill...She seems to like this fence post as she sits on it rather often. I looked out my bedroom window and saw her sitting there so photo time. When I brought the 500mm lens to focus I realized she had a mouse or some other small rodent as a kill in her talons. I captured shots of her eating her kill but figure this is the best as it also shows off her facial markings. She is a beauty. The fence post sits between 200 and 300 feet from my window and even with a 500mm lens she is still small in the whole area of the original capture. This is cut down to just the 8 x 10 area of the original which is 15.2 x 22.8 inches so there is a huge area around her of open space.
